HARRELLS — On Sunday, Aug. 28, Friendship Holiness Church in Harrells honored North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Billy Johnson, who is assigned to Basic School Operation, with a certificate of appreciation for his service in law enforcement.

The ceremony took place in front of the congregation and continued to a lunch prepared for Johnson and his family.

During the service, the church family held a moment of silence for the law enforcement officers who had lost their lives in the line of duty and the Rev. Jimmy Tatum, pastor of Friendship Holiness Church, led the congregation in a prayer for God’s blessings and protection on Johnson’s life, his family and his fellow officers.

“We give many thanks to Trooper Johnson and all law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities and cities safe,” Tatum said.

Johnson spoke briefly to the congregation before it gave Johnson a “love offering” so he and his family could enjoy a meal at a later time.
