TABOR CITY — A 10-run second inning by South Columbus put a big dent in visiting West Bladen’s playoffs hopes and sent the Lady Knights home with a 12-2 mercy-rule loss on Tuesday.

West Bladen fell to 10-12 overall and 9-8 in the Three Rivers Conference. On Friday, the Lady Knights will go on the road to face East Bladen in a showdown between the county rivals in the regular-season finale.

After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Stallions took advantage of two West Bladen errors and rapped 10 hits to plate the 10 runs in the bottom of the second.

The Lady Knights answered with a pair of runs in the top of the third behind singles from Jordan Benson and Abby Dawson, a fielder’s choice by Kyla Reed, a run-scoring double by Alara Cashwell and a sacrifice fly by Carley Dawson.

South Columbus pushed across a single run in the home half of the third and added another in the sixth to finish the game.

West Bladen hitters were held to just six hits in the loss.
