CLINTON — West Bladen weathered a marathon second game and swept the Lady Dark Horses of Clinton on Thursday in a Four County Conference volleyball match.


The 25-17, 32-30, 25-20 win snapped a two-match losing skein for the Lady Knights.


Taylor Stephens stepped up big for the Lady Knights with 20 service points in the match, while teammate Courtney Thompson provided the exclamation marks with 13 kills. Thompson also had eight blocks.


Mallory Davis also had a solid match with 16 service points, including two aces, along with seven blocks and eight kills. Morgan Sweeney added 10 service points, nine kills and two aces for West Bladen.


The lady Knights improved to 5-5 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

— In Elizabethtown on Thursday, the Lady Knights whitewashed East Bladen in Four County Conference action by a score of 9-0.


The win improves West Bladen to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference.


The Lady Knights only surrendered four games throughout the match and swept every set.


Serving up shutouts for West Bladen were Josie Ludlum at No. 1 singles, Alanna Ludlum at No. 5 singles, Amber Long at No. 6 singles, and all three doubles teams — Josie Ludlum and Alicia Avellaneda at No. 1, Madison Staton and Alanna Ludlum at No. 2, and Long and Sydney Jackson at No. 3.


Giving up just one game en route to a 6-0, 6-1 win were Avellaneda at No. 2 singles and Staton at No. 3 singles. Tatianna Sturgis won her match for the Lady Knights by a 6-2, 6-0 verdict.

— In Elizabethtown on Thursday, the Lady Eagles put up a stiff fight in the first game but succumbed to Wallace-Rose Hill in Four County Conference action, 26-24, 25-13 and 25-18.


East Bladen is now 3-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference.


Abbey Norris recorded eight kills, Lacey Suggs had two kills for the Lady Eagles.

— In Elizabethtown on Thursday, the Eagles dropped their third straight match, thanks in part to the loss of two key players to injury against North Brunswick in a non-conference matchup.


The Scorpions scored a goal in each half to post the win.


East Bladen fell to 3-3-0 overall.
