Clarkton DYB Turkey Shoot
CLARKTON — The Clarkton Dixie Youth Baseball Turkey Shoot continues every Friday and Saturday through Dec. 21 at the corner of Old Abbottsburg Road and Twisted Hickory.
The first weekends of the event have attracted good crowds.
The event benefits the players of the Clarkton DYB program
NCHSAA commissioner visits
Davis Whitfield, commissioner of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, made a stop in Bladen County recently to visit our two high schools. This was part of a three-county tour to Bladen, Hoke and Moore.
Whitfield took time to tour both high schools and their athletic facilities and fields.
While at East Bladen he met with Athletic Director Patty Evers, Coach Robbie Priest and Principal John McMillan.
During his stop at West Bladen, he met with Athletic Director Kim Cain and Principal Toni Warrick.
Youth basketball registration
ELIZABETHTOWN — Youth basketball registration will run through Dec. 13 at the Bladen County Parks & Recreation Department.
There will be three leagues: 6 to 8 years old (co-ed), 9 to 12 years old (boys) and 9 to 12 years old (girls). All games will be played Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
The fee will be $30 per player.

CRAF apps are available
ELIZABETHTOWN — The Bladen County Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting applications for the Community Recreation Assistance Fund.
The CRAF has been established to aid communities within Bladen County in setting up and conducting active sports programming in their communities for ages 17 and under.
To apply for CRAF, a set of eligibility requirements, participants’ responsibilities and a form application have been made available at the Parks and Recreation Department.
