NEWTON GROVE — The Lady Eagles got big games from Lacey Suggs and Asha Graham, scoring from eight players and a solid defensive effort to hand Midway a 66-31 thumping in the Four County Conference opener on Tuesday.
The win improves East Bladen to 7-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
The Lady Eagles jumped all over the home team, outscoring the Lady Raiders by a 21-9 margin in the first quarter.
Things settled into a back and forth in the second quarter, with East Bladen taking a 10-9 advantage and going into halftime holding a 31-18 lead.
East Bladen clamped down on defense in the third quarter, holding the Lady Raiders to just four points, while scoring 18 of its own to extend the lead to 49-22.
Midway could do nothing to chip away at the deficit in the final 8 minutes. The Lady Eagles outscored the home team by a 17-9 margin and easily sealed the 35-point win.
Suggs led East Bladen with 21 points and added six steals, while Graham canned four three-pointers and scored 20 points. Graham also had five assists.
Imani Turner-Dobson scored nine points and swatted seven shots for the Lady Eagles, while Abby Ward contributed six points and five assists.
