DUBLIN — A see-saw battled through the first half went awry in the third quarter for West Bladen on Friday, and the Knights dropped a 61-55 Four County Conference verdict to visiting Heidi Trask.
The loss dropped West Bladen to 7-6 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Malcolm Vaught and Rahu Purdie each connected on long-range three-pointers to keep things close in the first quarter, but the Titans built a 14-9 advantage by the time the buzzer sounded.
West Bladen turned the tables in the second quarter, sparked by a pair of three-pointers from Nate Pryor and another downtown shot by Vaught to win the quarter 17-12 and knot the game at 26-26 going into halftime.
The second-half surge was delivered by Trask, as the Titans came out of the locker room and put 19 points on the board while holding the Knights to 10 for a 45-36 lead.
West Bladen’s rally through the fourth quarter — led by Pryor and Stefan McDonald, who combined for 10 points — fell short. Despite taking the final 8 minutes 19-16, the game was out of reach.
Purdie led the Knights with 15 points, seven boards and four assists. Pryor contributed 14 points and Vaught added 12 points.
