ELIZABETHTOWN — The Lady Eagles put some solid numbers into the scorebook on Friday, not the least of which was a staggering 52 rebounds, and handed Pender County a 61-24 Four County Conference win.
East Bladen is now 12-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference.
The Lady Eagles and Lady Patriots each had early-game 4-0 spurts, but East Bladen broke open the 4-4 knot with a 6-0 run for a 10-4 lead, then finished the first quarter with a 10-1 explosion to take a 20-5 advantage into the second quarter.
In that second stanza, Lacey Suggs put up seven points behind a three-pointer and Asha Graham added six points to help lead the Lady Eagles to a 19-3 margin in the second quarter and a 39-8 halftime lead.
The offense kept clicking for East Bladen in the third quarter. Abby Norris led the Lady Eagles with seven points to help extend the lead to 56-13 going into the fourth frame.
The lady Patriots managed to squeak out an 11-5 fourth-quarter margin against the East Bladen bench, but the game was already well in hand for the Lady Eagles.
Suggs led East Bladen with 23 points — 19 of which came in the first half — along with five steals. Norris posted a double-double for the Lady eagles with 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Christiana Cromartie added 10 points and five blocked shots.
Graham had seven assists, Abby Ward handed out six assists and Imani Turner-Dobson swatted away five shots for East Bladen.
