DUBLIN — A couple of untimely miscues by the West Bladen defense, along with cold bats at the plate, allowed visiting Wallace-Rose Hill to steal a 2-0 Four County Conference win on Friday.
“We didn’t hit the ball worth a lick,” said West Bladen coach Kim Cain. “We got a heckuva pitching effort from Travis Bowen, but their pitcher also did a good job. He kept us off balance the whole game.”
The Bulldogs scored their two runs in the fourth, fueled by a misjudged fly ball, a pickoff attempt that hit the runner and caromed into the outfield, and an overthrow at the plate.
John Waldrop had the Knights’ lone hit, a single. Bowen went the distance and scattered five hits, gave up one walk and struck out five.
