DUBLIN — Quiet for the first three innings, West Bladen’s bats came alive for 11 hits and 11 runs over the final three innings Wednesday and handed visiting East Bladen an 11-2 Four County Conference loss.

The win improved the Knights to 8-7 overall and 5-4 in the conference, while the Eagles fell to 4-9 overall and 4-5 in the conference.

After two scoreless innings, East Bladen pushed a pair of runs across in the third fueled by a West Bladen error and two hits. But the Eagles could only manage one more hit the rest of the way against Knights pitcher Liston Britt, who hurled a complete-game, three-hitter. He walked six batter and fanned nine.

Things began to fall for West Bladen in the fourth inning on singles by Parker Allen and John Waldrop ahead of a two-run single from Travis Bowen that knotted the game at 2-2.

In the fifth, with one out, C.J. Singletary walked and Trevor Lesane singled — and both scored when Clay Allen launched a two-run double. Moments later, Waldrop ripped a two-out single to plate Allen for a 5-2 lead.

The Knights padded that lead in the sixth inning, battering a trio of Eagles pitchers for six runs on four hits. A pinch-hit single by Joe Miller was followed by two-out walks to Singletary and Lesane that loaded the bases. Clay Allen then smacked another two-run double and Parker Allen followed with a two-run single. A walk to Waldrop was followed by a two-run double by Britt to end the scoring.

East Bladen was led at the plate by Cameron West, who went 2-for-3. Hastin McGill’s single was the only other Eagles hit.

“They have a good team, and they just started hitting the ball on us,” said East Bladen coach Russell Priest.

West Bladen was led at the plate by Clay Allen, who was 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI. Waldrop was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Lesane was 2-for-3, while Britt had a double and two RBI and Bowen had two RBI.

“We finally started getting some good at-bats and getting deeper in the counts,” said West Bladen coach Kim Cain. “And we got some good two-out hits finally.”
