ELIZABETHTOWN — Clay Allen hurled a two-hit shutout to lead visiting West Bladen to a 3-0 Four County Conference over East Bladen on Friday.

The win improved the Knights to 8-6 in the conference and 11-10 overall. It also secured them a home game to open the playoffs, presumably against Reidsville.

“Clay pitched us a good ballgame,” West Bladen coach Kim Cain said. “That complete game from him was a big key for us, helping to set up Liston (Britt) to pitch the playoff game.

“And we hit just enough to win win,” he added.

The loss puts an end to the Eagles’ season, as they finished 4-10 in the conference and 5-16 overall.

“We just didn’t put the ball in play tonight,” said East Bladen coach Russell Priest. “We got a well-pitched game from Alex (Coates), but we didn’t supoort him with any runs.”
