BLADENBORO — West Bladen’s delayed opening football game at South Columbus this week has been postponed.

The Stallions’ football program has had to pause activities because of the coronavirus. The teams were set to meet on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Tabor City, a day after the season opens for most teams because the Knights had to pause activities on Feb. 5 and were delayed getting in enough practices.

East Bladen also doesn’t have a game this week because its opponent, Whiteville, has had to shut down through March 16. The Wolfpack’s game next week with West Bladen is also postponed.

East Bladen and West Bladen are scheduled to play April 9 in the season finale. There is discussion of brining it forward.

Both schools, according to coaches, have heavily saturated fields.
