DUBLIN — West Bladen’s No. 1 team hosted East Bladen on Wednesday in a doubleheader that was threatened by an earlier downpour, but the game were played and the two teams split the five-inning affairs.


In the opener, Matthew Massengill led the Eagles both on the hill and at the plate. He hurled a complete-game, 6-2 win and contributed a pair of hits along the way.


In the nightcap, Ray Jones and Donald McCullum led the Knights with two hits each, while Trent West and Caleb Sholar teamed up on the mound to lift West Bladen to a 6-2 win.


East Bladen returns to action Monday with a game at South Columbus at 6 p.m.


West Bladen No. 1 also plays Monday at South Brunswick at 6 p.m.


— In Leland on Wednesday, West Bladen No. 2 swept a pair of five-inning games from North Brunswick, taking the first game 5-4 and then the second, 8-5.


In the opener, Michael Pastore held the Scorpions in check from the hill, fanning nine.


The big hits for the Knights were a two-run triple by Chandler Lennon and an RBI single by Ian Sykes.


In the nightcap, the Knights raced out to an 8-1 edge behind starter Lennon.


West Bladen got a two-run single by Brandon Carson, a two-run double by Pastore, RBI single from Jeremy Hunt and RBI single by Joseph Miller.


Troy Edge also had a double for the Knights.


West Bladen No. 2 returns to the field Monday when they host West Columbus at 6 p.m.
