ELIZABETHTOWN — After a scoreless first half, visiting East Columbus scored an early second-half goal that didn’t stand up as East Bladen tallied the tie-breaker late in the match to slavage a 1-1 knot.
The Eagles’ attack was held in check by the Gators through the first 40 minutes, getting outshot by a 4-1 margin. But East Bladen turned the tables and pressured the East Columbus goal with 15 second-half shots while holding the Gators to just two.
With close to 10 minutes left, Alex Felder got his foot on a loose ball and rocketed it into the net for the tying goal.
In St. Pauls, a trio of Lady Eagles servers combined for 35 winners and 20 aces as East Bladen swept St. Pauls by the scores of 25-15, 25-13 and 25-14 in a non-conference season-opener.
Lacey Suggs had 14 service points and six aces, while Abby Norris recorded 12 service points and six aces. Miller Heustess contributed nine service points with eight aces. Norris also had two kills in the match.
