ELIZABETHTOWN — Cade Hancock opened another summer of success on the links with two straight weeks of top-notch golf.
The Elizabethtown teenager first earned a first-place finish at the Carolina National Golf Tournament in Wilmington by carding a 79 in his age category, 12 to 13 years old. There were 13 competitors in the division.
Hancock’s win was by one stroke over Ben Canady’s 81.
Then, on Thursday, Hancock competed in a drive, chip and putt contest for the chance to attend the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club in April m2015.
Hancock survived the first round by taking first place in driving, third place in chipping and third place overall.
After competing this week on the Coastal Junior Golf Tour at River Landing Country Club, he will compete in the second round of the contest on Aug. 23.
Hancock is the son of Jim and Polly Hancock.
