BLADENBORO – The third annual Beast Festival got under way in slightly soggy conditions on Saturday morning. As Mother Nature tries to play havoc with the festivals weather, she couldn’t dampen the spirits of those who braved the misty conditions to come out spend a day shopping at the booths or being entertained by one of the several acts on the stage.

Food vendors were offering collard sandwiches, homemade ice cream, fried chicken and even egg rolls. The “Sow you can Grow” scholarship committee had a booth featuring baked goods for sale and a raffle.

The Classic Cruisers Car Club also had a display of nostalgic rides set up.

Children laughed and enjoyed the games while the adults shopped among the booths offering hand crafted jewelry, Beast Festival T-shirts, and other items.

The biggest delight was during the festival opening when the Beast arrived by ambulance to arise and dance and entertain. He wondered the crowd and the festival grounds offering high-fives and hand shakes to the young and old alike.
