WHITE LAKE — The Bladen County Shrine Club recently held its annual golf tournament to raise money for the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.

According to committee members Odell Pait, Paul Johnson, John Dove and Jimmy Taylor, “We weren’t sure if a tournament held so late in the season would be successful or not. We talked with Carolina Sands manager Bobby Davis and he assured us that if the weather was nice the players would come. Bobby was right. We had sixteen teams show up to enjoy the great weather, the golf, and to help raise money for the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.”

Winning the closest to the pin contests were Jeff Smith, Jeff Campbell, Billy Taylor and Ronald Meares.

The First Flight champion, with 17-under par, was the team of Carolina Sands owner Don Britt, Jack Heustess, Paul Scott and Andy Allred.

Coming in second place, with 15-under par, was the team of Robbie West, Todd Nurnberger, Bill Starnes and Brad Harris.

At 13-under and in third place, were John Moon, Brooks Britt, Jack Williams and Mark Falour.

The Second Flight was won in a four-hole scorecard playoff with nine-under par. That was the team of Chris Moore, Nathan Richardson, Dickie Wilkins and David Willoughby. In second place, also with nine-under, were Rusty Patterson, David Drose, Andy Burns and Jack Oxendine.

Taking third place, with eight-under, was the team of George Bousaais, William Brisson, Matt Hardee and Bobby Davis.

George Bousaais won the putting contest.

According to club manager Bobby Davis “This is our final tournament of the season. We have had such a great year. All of the tournaments have been very successful. I, along with our owners Don and April Britt, would like to thank everyone for making everything so successful.”
