David Bone of Chadbourn  is announced the new Town Manager of Elizabethtown by Mayor Kenneth Kornegay. Bone is well qualified, with a master's of Public Administration Degree from UNC Chapel Hill and a bachelor's degree from NC Central.

The Elizabethtown Kiwanis Club installs new officers: Jim Orgel, treasurer; Fred Stewart, vice-president; Janie Allen, secretary; and Roy Allen, president.

Monday, December 10, 1984

The undefeated Clarkton Blue Devils defeat the Bladenboro Bulldogs 50-38 in the Tri-County Conference high school basketball season. Clarkton's center Alfred Baldwin lost consciousness momentarily after being kicked in the head and was transported to Bladen County Hospital.



Thursday, December 10, 1953

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first flight made by the Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk. Bladen county, with 12 registered planes, is ranked 33rd among the hundred counties of the state. Mecklenburg County led all of them with 164 registered aircrafts, and all but thirteen counties in North Carolina had at least one aircraft.
