BLADENBORO — The 36th annual Bladenboro Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5.
The parade units will line up on Village street in front of Bo’s. All units need to be on Village Street by 9 a.m. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Bo’s and trave to Main Street, where it will end at the Bladenboro Middle School.
This years’ parade marshall will be Bladenboro’s own Trelonnie Owens. Owens graduated from Bladenboro High School in 1990. Owens and fellow teammates, led by coach Junior Nance, won the NCHSAA state basketball championship in March of 1990.
He was the N.C. High School Player of The Year, he was also selected as a N. C. McDonalds All-Star selection in 1990.
Owens went on to attend Wake Forest University where he was ranked in the ACC’s top 10 in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage and free throw precentage in 1994. He was awarded the Murry Greason Award-Wake Forest University. Owens went on to a 14-year European basketball career.
The fun and excitement will keep parading down the streets of Bladenboro with bands, queens, singing groups, church floats, and numerious shriner groups. and no parade is complete unless it has a clown or several.
