WHITE OAK — The 18th century plantation known as Harmony Hall located on River Road in White Oak will have all its Christmas finery on display Saturday from noon until 6 p.m.

Volunteer Laurie Smith said the house and buildings will have period decorations and the volunteers and re-enactors will wear period costumes.

Smith said there will be music in the chapel from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.

“The music is going to be really special,” said Smith.

Performances will be by Heavenly Sunrise; Baldwin Branch Men’s Chorus; Keith Barbour on his violin; and Debbie Wilson.

There will be encampments by two Confederate re-enactment groups: the Drowning Creek Living History, 46th N.C. Troops Co. A. and the Sons of Confederate veterans, Fayetteville Arsenal Camp No. 168; and the Revolutionary re-enactors of the Bladen Militia.

“The Bladen Militia is important to Harmony Hall because its original owner, James Richardson, served in the Bladen Militia during the Revolutionary War,” said Smith.

Another attraction will be Timothy Dillinger, a historian and a storyteller. Smith said children seem to enjoy him.

“He charms the kids. He has them at rapt attention the whole time,” said Smith.

Judy Elkins will also have a demonstration with either dolls or toys, added Smith.

There will also be displays of tools, blacksmithing and colonial guns and survey equipment.

Fred Booth will also be cooking in his Dutch ovens.

The Boy Scouts will also have a dedication for the blacksmith shop.

“The blacksmith shop was an Eagle Scout project and they will be dedicating that Saturday,” said Smith.

The Boy Scouts will also be selling hot dogs as a fundraiser, she added.

There will also be tours of the house and all the buildings will open.

“We are not going to have the candlelight tours of the house this year, but it will be decorated,’ said Smith. “Some of the Richardson descendants will be on hand.

“Admission is free, but donations are welcome and much appreciated,” she added.

Harmony Hall is located 1615 River Road, White Oak. For more information, call 910-866-4844.
