Shelby McKenzie-Ruth O’Briant of Tar Heel and Robert Lee Sasser Jr. of Elizabethtown were united in marriage on Saturday, June 30, at 2 p.m. at Tar Heel Baptist Church where the bride and her family have been members since 2022.
The Revs. Christopher O’Briant and Jay Winston presided over the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Robert and Jeana O’Briant of Tar Heel. She is the granddaughter of John and Peggy Wilson of Wilmington and Bob and Anne O’Briant of Bladenboro. She is also is the great-granddaughter of Marvin and Marcella Beasley of Cleveland, Ga. and the late and John and Eunice Wilson of Forest City.
She is a graduate of this year’s class at West Bladen High School.
The groom is the son of Robert and Sabrina Sasser Sr. of Bladenboro. He is the grandson of Denny and Irene Smith of Elizabethtown and Elbert Sasser of Elizabethtown.
He is a graduate of the 2007 class of West Bladen High School and is employed by Dak America in Fayetteville.
The bride was given in marriage by her father, Robert W. O’Briant II.
The bride’s youngest sister, Ashlyn Ellyn-Mae O’Briant of Tar Heel served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Laura O’Briant of New Orleans, La., Brittany Hill of Statesboro, Ga., Brianna Moore of Tar Heel, Nikki Brisson of Greenville, and Alli Allen of Tar Heel.
The groom chose Eric Garrell of Clarkton to serve as his best man. Groomsmen were Justin O’Briant of New Orleans, La., Dustin Enzor of Whiteville, Kevin Williams of Tabor City, Brett Sasser and Brady Sasser, both of Bladenboro.
Haliee Hunsinger of White Oak served as flower girl and ring bearers were Ethan O’Briant of New Orleans, La. and Jack Wilson of Wake Forest.
