President Obama has held his share of town meetings since his inauguration, allowing citizens to ask those burning questions on their mind.

The Bladen Journal decided to hold its own town meeting, selecting folks from throughout Bladen County to give them the opportunity to answer this question: If you could ask President Obama just one question, what would it be?

The result was a wide range of questions, from health care to religion to the war in Iraq.

Bishop Joe T. Lowry of Elizabethtown said he’d want to ask the president, “Do you believe in God?”

Michael Hester of Bladenboro wanted to know, “Would you put your daughters on the front lines of the war against the Taliban in Afghanistan and Iraq?”

John Stoll of Clarkton wants to ask the president, “How are we going to make health care more accessible, sensible and affordable without loosing quality of care?”

Beverly Kinlaw of Elizabethtown wants to ask the president, “Why is it such an objection to producing evidence that you are a U.S. citizen by birth?”

Joe McLaughlin of Bladenboro question is: “Why are you so liberal?” He said the question is based on Obama’s ban on abortion and his beliefs.

Ash Carper of Elizabethtown would like to ask the President, “Where did the stimulus money go? I ask this because the banks are sitting on the money and allowing the housing industry to suffer.”

Linda Clark of Clarkton would like to ask the question, “Do you honestly think the health care bill is going to do anything to stem the rising cost of health care?”

Alice Allen of Tar Heel would ask the president, “You have stated this is not a Christian nation. Is this what you want or would you like to change it?”

Jim Burney of Clarkton is concerned about his children and grandchildren paying for the deficit created by our generation and his question would be, “How do you plan to pay for all of this?”

Janine McKoy of Dublin is concerned about citizens without insurance, those with pre-existing conditions and not covered by their current insurance. Her question is, “When is the health care plan going to begin?”

Larry Johnson of Elizabethtown wants to ask the president, “Why is it each time a presidential campaign is being held and the candidate’s promises to the public do not come true?”

Delane Jackson of Bladenboro wants to ask, “Our country’s national debt is nearly $11 trillion, the payment on the interest alone is $450 billion per year. What are you going to do to eliminate or reduce this debt?”
