WHITEVILLE — The Southeastern Oratorio Society announces fall rehearsals beginning Monday, Sept. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the choral rehearsal room at Southeastern Community College, according to Music Director Dr. Larry D. Cook.

The chorus will meet each Monday thereafter to prepare its concerts scheduled on Dec. 13 and 14. The first three rehearsals, Sept. 21, Sept. 28, and Oct. 5 are “open rehearsals” to which prospective new members are invited to take part. No special preparation is required; interested singers are urged to come and either participate or just listen.

Continuing the Oratorio Society’s yearlong celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Felix Mendelssohn, the December concerts will feature seasonal music by Mendelssohn: his “Gloria in excelsis Deo” and “Cantata on ‘From Heaven High,” both composed while he was still a teenager!

Any questions may be directed to Dr. Cook at 910-793-1969.
