BLADENBORO — An employee of a Bladenboro convenience store and gas station now finds himself in hot water after being accused of stealing from his employer and then setting a fire inside the business.
According to Bladen County Fire Marshal Bradley Kinlaw, a joint investigation between the Bladenboro Police Department and Bladen County Fire Marshal’s Office resulted in leads pointing to the incident being an inside job.
The incident took place at the Kangaroo Gas Station on West Seaboard Street in Bladenboro at about 11:38 p.m. on Saturday, April 7.
The investigation, Kinlaw said, showed that cash was missing from the store and a fire was set just after closing time in the store’s office area.
Arrested was Ryan Daniel Clinton, 29, of Bladenboro, who was charged with larceny by an employee and arson of a public building. He is in the Bladen County Jail under a total of $26,500 secure bond.
