The sounds and smells of hogs wafted through downtown Elizabethtown late Tuesday morning when the transfer truck they were riding in broke down at the corner of West Broad Street and U.S. 701. The truck’s drive train broke just as it reached the top of the U.S. 701 hill near the light and created a diversion for traffic heading south for about 30 minutes.

Bladen County Schools Child Nutrition Department is accepting bids for milk and bread contract for the 2013-14 school year. Interested parties should contact the Bladen County Schools Child Nutrition Department at 910-862-4136, Amy Stanly or Crystal O’Briant to receive a formal bid document. All submitted bids will be opened on May 20 at 9:00 a.m. at the Bladen County Schools District Office.
