Mother Nature whistled for a timeout late last week and forced Bladen County’s high-school basketball teams to head for the sidelines on Friday, postponing Four County Conference matchups until a later date.

East Bladen’s varsity boys and girls games at Wallace-Rose Hill were first moved up by an hour and then postponed. West Bladen’s home boys and girls games against Clinton were also moved up by an hour and then postponed. The jayvee games for both schools were canceled from the start.

East Bladen has already rescheduled its games with Wallace-Rose Hill for Jan. 25.

With the weather improving, the Eagles and Knights will return to action on Tuesday — against each other.

Coach Rick Rhoda and West Bladen will come to the Eagles Nest and the Lady Knights, 7-5 overall and 3-0 in the conference, will take on coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles, 10-3 overall and 3-1 in the conference. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Coach Travis Pait’s Knights — fresh off their three-peat in the Woodman Life Christmas Tournament winners of 10 straight games after an 0-2 start and 3-0 in the conference — will challenge an East Bladen team, coached by Kenzil McCall, that is 0-4 in the conference and 1-11 overall. That game should start about 8 p.m.
