DUBLIN — In a game West Bladen needed to get back on track after three straight Four County Conference losses, the Knights came out flat and couldn’t get its offense going against visiting Midway on Tuesday, falling to the Raiders, 45-43.

The loss drops West Bladen to 15-8 overall and 8-5 in the conference.

The Knights could manage just four points in the first quarter and couldn’t score until after Midway had taken a 10-0 lead.

West Bladen found its stride in the second stanza, pouring in 19 points and holding the Raiders to 12, and the Knights took a precarious 23-22 lead into the intermission. West Bladen opened the quarter with a 15-3 run that featured a three-pointer by John Bowen. A second three-ball by Bowen helped keep the Knights up at halftime.

Things tightened even more in the third quarter, as Midway edged the Knights 8-7 and the game was knotted at 30-30 going into the fourth frame when Sayaun Dent dropped in a layup for West Bladen at the buzzer.

The Raiders opened a 33-30 lead early, but West Bladen went on a 6-0 run behind a three-pointer by Bowen before Midway finished the game on a 12-7 run to seal the game.

Bowen led West Bladen with 20 points and Dent was right behind with 18.
