A total of seven basketball players from Bladen County — three boys and four girls — have been named to the All-Four County Conference team, voted on by conference coaches. Clinton, which won both the boys and girls conference titles, locked up the two Player of the Year honors.

On the boys side, West Bladen had seniors Sayaun Dent and John Bowen tabbed after an 18-10 season that saw the Knights finish 9-5 in the conference.

The 6-foot, 3-inch Dent averaged 17.5 points per game for coach Travis Knight, while the 6-8 Bowen pumped in 16.4 points per game to lead West Bladen.

East Bladen saw senior guard Eian Hines named to the team. He averaged 16.7 points per game for coach Kenzil McCall’s 4-23, 1-13 team.

Jeremiah Pope was voted the Player of the Year for the Dark Horses.

On the girls side, East Bladen had senior post player Emily Scott and sophomore guard Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson tabbed to the all-conference squad after the Lady Eagles finished 22-6 overall and 12-2 in the conference.

The 6-0 Scott put together a solid season with 5.7 points, 7-5 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game.

Moore-Peterson burst on the scene and left Lady Eagles fans with hope for the future after averaging 17.2 points per game along with 4.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.6 steals.

West Bladen, which finished 12-15 overall and 7-7 in the conference, saw seniors Laikyn Pait and Logan Autry tabbed for the all-conference team.

The 5-9 Pait finished the season with a 10.4 points per game average, along with 7.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game.

Autry, a 5-6 guard, averaged 7.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 3.0 assists per game for coach Joey Autry.

Clinton’s Mikayla Boykin was the runaway choice as Player of the Year.
