DUBLIN — West Bladen took five of the six singles matches Tuesday, including a thriller at No. 6 from a last-minute substitute, and the Lady Knights earned a 6-3 Three Rivers Conference win over visiting East Columbus.

The Lady Knights improved to 4-0 overall and in the conference.

In singles, No. 1 Conner Brisson won 6-2 and 6-2; No. 3 Autumn Brisson won 4-6, 7-6 (11-9 tie-breaker); No. 4 Alyssa Smith won 4-6, 6-4 (10-4 tie-breaker); and No. 5 Mireya Sandoval won 6-0 and 6-1. But the highlight for West Bladen may have been Haleigh Dunn stepping in at No. 6 and taking a 6-3, 6-4 victory.

“Savannah Lee, our No. 3, was out sick and Haleigh Dunn stepped up from the No. 7 seed to get the win at No. 6 …” said West Bladen coach Mary White. “Alyssa and Autumn rallied back from first-set losses to close out the match with tiebreakers (and) Autumn Brisson had a 2.5-hour singles match.”

In doubles, the No. 3 duo of Smith and Sandoval earned a 6-3 and 6-2 win for the Lady Knights.

— In Red Springs on Tuesday, the Lady Eagles fell 7-2 in a Three Rivers Conference match.

Ting Lin rallied for a singles match win at No. 2 by a 4-6, 6-3 (10-7 tie-breaker) verdict and the doubles tandem of Lin and Jayme LeeAnn Frady took an 8-5 win at No. 1 for the Lady Eagles.

East Bladen is now 1-4 overall and in the conference.

Volleyball

— In Dublin on Tuesday, visiting East Columbus knocked off West Bladen in a Three Rivers Conference match by the scores of 27-25, 25-18 and 25-11.

Raegan Davis turned in eight kills and an ace, while Alise Pait contributed four kills and Mikayla Winebarger had three kills for the Lady Knights.

Elizabeth Allbright had two kills and an ace; Lexie Corrothers added two kills and Callie Lewis had one kill for West Bladen.

The Lady Knights are now 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

— In Red Springs on Tuesday, the Lady Eagles’ rally came up short in a Three Rivers Contest, as the host Lady Red Devils took the match by the scores of 25-22, 25-22, 18-25 and 25-16.

East Bladen is now 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
