FAIRMONT – The Lady Eagles went on the road and claimed a 6-3 Three Rivers Conference tennis win over host Fairmont on Thursday.

East Bladen took four of the six singles matches, then sealed the win by taking two of the three doubles matches.

In singles, Jayme LeeAnn Frady earned a tough 6-1, 4-6, 12-10 (tie-breaker) win at No. 1; Ting Lin won 6-1, 6-4 at No,. 2; Sammi Jiang got a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5; and Carlie West won 6-1, 7-5 at No. 6.

In doubles, Frady and Ting Lin teamed up and got a win when Fairmont retired at No. 1; and the No. 2 tandem of Lily Lin and Jiang earned an 8-4 win.

Lady Knights nipped

— In Whiteville on Thursday, visiting West Bladen and the host Lady Wolfpack split the six singles matches before Whiteville took two of the three doubles matches to pick up a 5-4 Three Rivers Conference win — handing the Lady Knights their first loss of the season.

In singles for West Bladen, Conner Brisson earned a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 1; Mireya Sandoval took a tough 6-1, 5-7, 11-9 (tie-breaker) win at No. 4; and Haleigh Dunn rallied for a 1-6, 6-2, 10-1 (tie-breaker) win at No. 6.

In doubles, the tandem of Sandoval and Alyssa Smith earned an 8-2 win at No. 3.

“They played a great match that was close until the very end,” West Bladen coach Mary White said. “Although disappointed, we are proud of the way we played.“

— In Whiteville on Thursday, the host Lady Wolfpack rallied after a first-game loss and took a Three Rivers Conference victory over visiting West Bladen by the scores of 18-25, 25-15, 25-13 and 25-13.

Raegan Davis led the Lady Knights with nine kills, seven service winners, 10 digs, two solo blocks and an ace. Mikayla Winebarger had 11 digs, six kills, an ace and a solo block; Elizabeth Allbright had seven digs, four kills and three aces; Patience Parker had 13 digs; Caroline Davis had 12 digs; and Alise Pait had two kills, six digs and an ace.
