Eagles get No. 2 seed in Class 2-A East Region; to open at home against James Kenan

ELIZABETHTOWN — Friday night’s drawing of numbers between East Bladen, Whiteville and South Columbus — which gave the Eagles the No. 1 seed out of the Three Rivers Conference — managed to keep East Bladen in the East Region, while the Wolfpack and Stallions were sent to the West Region for the NCHSAA Class 2-A playoffs.

The 10-1 Eagles also were given the East Region’s No. 2 seed and they will open the playoffs Friday at home against 3-7 James Kenan, the No. 15 seed. The Tigers play out of the East Central Conference, where they finished with a 2-4 mark and in fifth place.

A win on Friday would give East Bladen another home game against the winner of the No. 7 seed Kinston, 9-2, versus the No. 10 seed Greene Central, 7-4, on Friday, Nov. 17.

At the top of the Class 2-A East region is Northeastern, 11-0, the lone undefeated team in the bracket.

A total of six teams from the Three Rivers Conference made the state playoffs.
