DUBLIN — West Bladen used a huge third quarter that featured some tough Knights defense en route to its first win of the season, a non-conference 75-42 victory over visiting Union on Wednesday.
The win improved West Bladen to 1-3 overall.
The Knights opened the game with a 12-3 run and finished the first quarter with a 17-10 advantage.
That lead grew to 25-10 as the Knights started the second stanza with an 8-0 rush. But the Spartans back, using a 15-7 blitz to finish the half and trailed by just 32-25 going into the intermission.
West Bladen came out on fire in the second half. A 17-2 run to start the third quarter extended the Knights’ lead to 49-27, all but salting the game away. The West Bladen defense held Union to just six points in the quarter and took a 58-31 lead into the fourth frame.
The Knights outscored the Spartans by a 17-11 margin through the quarter and sealed the 33-point win.
Tyre Boykin led West Bladen with 18 points, while Scott Bowen added 12, Jaheim Lesane had 11.
