Baseball hitting camp set for Dec. 19

ELIZABETHTOWN — A baseball hitting camp will be put on by the Bladen County Recreation Department in partnership with the Grand Slam Batting Cage on Saturday, Dec. 19.

The camp will be held at the Grand Slam Batting Cage, which is located at 404 Fourth St. in Bladenboro.

Cost to attend the camp is $40 per person and will include lunch and a hitting camp T-shirt. Registration is open through Friday, Dec. 4.

The camp will be taught in two sessions: 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. for ages 7 to 10 years old; and 1 until 4 p.m. for ages 11 to 14 years old.

Instructors for the hitting camp will be Paul Faulk, a scout for the Washington Nationals, and his son Tripp Faulk, the baseball coach at Carson-Newman University.

Applications for the hitting camp are available at the Bladen County Parks and Recreation Office, located at 803 W. King St. in Elizabethtown.

Youth basketball registration underway

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Bladen County Parks & Recreation is now accepting youth basketball registrations through Dec. 11.

The program consists of three leagues: 6 to 8 years old, co-ed; 9 to 12 boys; and 9 to 12 girls. The fee is $30 per player.
