Eagles knock off East Columbus

LAKE WACCAMAW — Denzel Johnson buried four three-pointers and three Eagles combined for five more on Friday to lead East Bladen to a 75-53 non-conference win over East Columbus.

The win improves East Bladen to 2-5.

The Eagles jumped all over the Gators right from the start. Jermaine Robinson nailed a three-pointer en route to a 14-6 lead after the first quarter.

In the second stanza, East Bladen erupted for 25 points behind a pair of three-pointers by Johnson and one from Ethan Hines. The Eagles gave up 20 points in the quarter, but stretched their lead to 39-26 at halftime.

The two teams battled each other closely throughout the third period, but Johnson drained two more three-pointers to lead East Bladen out to a 55-39 advantage.

Adonis Avery buried two three-pointers in the fourth quarter and Hines canned a three-pointer, helping the Eagles to a 20-14 advantage in the period and sealed the 22-point win.

Johnson led East Bladen with 16 points behind the four three-pointers, while Hines followed with 14 points and two three-pointers. Eian Hines contributed 12 points and Avery scored 10 points to put four Eagles in double figures.
