ELIZABETHTOWN — Nine Lady Eagles scored Tuesday, three in double figures and led by Lacey Suggs’ 28 points, as East Bladen upended North Brunswick 69-37 in the final game of the East Bladen Holiday Classic.

The win improved the Lady Eagles to 12-0.

The Lady Scorpions gave East Bladen all it could handle in the early going, knotting the game at 11-11 before the Lady Eagles went on an 8-0 run for a 19-11 advantage after the first quarter.

In the second stanza, East Bladen took control by outscoring North Brunswick by a12-3 margin and took a 31-14 edge into the intermission.

Suggs visited the free throw stripe six times to open the second half and hit five of them to begin an 18-9 run through the third quarter for East Bladen, extending the lead to 49-23 with 8 minutes to play.

The Lady Eagles opened the final period with an 11-6 spurt, then finished the game trading points to seal the 32-point win.

Suggs added to her 28 points with seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocked shot. Abby Ward scored 10 points with nine assists and three steals, while Ashley Hardin scored 12 points.

Defensively, Christiana Cromartie was stellar, contributing 10 blocked shots for East Bladen.

The Lady Eagles will break for the holidays and return to Four County Conference action on Monday, Jan. 4, against Pender County.
