DUBLIN — Whiteville used a strong first and fourth quarter to knock off East Bladen in the fifth-place game of the Woodman Life Christmas Tournament on Wednesday, 51-40.

Despite three-pointers from Sincere Smith and J.R. Robinson for the Knights, the Wolfpack finished the first quarter on a 4-0 spurt to take an 18-10 lead into the second period.

The Eagles played their best defensive quarter before intermission, holding Whiteville to just six points. Offensively, East Bladen put 11 points on the board and closed the gap to 24-21 at halftime.

The two teams traded points through the third quarter and played to a 12-12 knot, which kept Whiteville’s lead at three, 36-33.

But in the fourth quarter, the Eagles couldn’t keep up with Whiteville, as the Wolfpack won the quarter 15-7 and sealed the win.

Robinson led East Bladen with 10 points with two three-pointers.
