LELAND — East Bladen got a hat trick from Lacey Suggs and a pair of goals from Hannah Devane to lead the Lady Eagles past North Brunswick on Wednesday, 6-2, in a non-conference match.

The win improved East Bladen to 5-0.

The Lady Eagles bunched three goals within 10 minutes midway through the first half when Suggs fired in the first goal off a feed from Abby Ward, then repeated the event moments later for a 2-0 lead, followed by a goal by Ward.

DeVane got her first goal just before halftime off a pass from Justyna Gargala to give East Bladen a 4-0 edge.

Suggs scored her third goal early in the second half and, after the Lady Scorpions got on the board, DeVane turned a Ward pass into a goal for a 6-1 lead. North Brunswick scored late in the match to complete the scoring.

Kathryn Cole recorded five saves in the nets for East Bladen.

— South Robeson came to get revenge for last week’s 9-0 non-conference loss to the Knights, and they got it on Wednesday with a 6-5 win in eight innings.

West Bladen fell to 1-2 on the young season.

The Knights found themselves trailing 4-0 in the second inning and 5-2 in the fourth, but managed to pull within 5-4 in the fifth inning before knotting the game in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single by Trent West.

But the Mustangs pushed across a run in the top of the eighth on a fielder’s choice, error, single and another fielder’s choice.

The Knights went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the frame.

West was 2-for-4 with three RBI to lead the Knights, while Jarrett Williams was 2-for-3.
