In Elizabethtown on Tuesday, Lacey Suggs scored a hat trick and three other Lady Eagles scored goals to lead East Bladen past visiting Pender County in a Four County Conference match, 5-0.

The win improves the Lady Eagles to 8-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

East Bladen tallied three goals in the first half for a 3-0 halftime advantage, then added a pair of goals in the second half to seal the win.

Suggs scored her trio of goals on seven shots at the net and added an assist, while Abby Ward had a goal and an assist. Hannah Devane had a goal and two assists, and Lexi Mendell scored a goal. Maddie West and Ting Lin each had an assist for East Bladen.

The Lady Eagles outshot Pender County, 25-0, and had a 7-0 advantage on corner kicks.

— For the second straight match on consecutive days, the West Bladen Knights were taken to the brink, but came out on top in a non-conference match against visiting East Columbus on Tuesday, 5-4.

The Knights and Gators split the singles matches 3-3. Getting wins for West were Victor Jacome at No. 1, 6-6 (7-5) and 6-3; Tate Sykes at No. 5, 6-3 and 6-1; and Jose Osorio at No. 6, 7-5 and 6-3.

After East Columbus took the No. 1 doubles match for a 4-3 lead, the Knights won the next two doubles matches to seal the win. Feliz Rebollar and Manuel Arvizo took an 8-3 win at No. 2, and the team of Osorio and Sykes got an 8-5 win at No. 3.

West Bladen is now 7-2 overall.

— In Dublin on Tuesday, Jeidi Trask came to town and took a 6-2 Four County Conference win from West Bladen.

The loss drops the Knights to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

After two scoreless innings, the Titans plated a pair of runs in the third inning, then broke the game open with four runs in the fourth frame to take a 6-0 advantage.

West Bladen answered with a run in the home half of the fourth when Chandler Lennon reached on an error, Troy Edge was hit by a pitch and Seth Britt singled to load the bases before Donald McCullum lofted a sacrifice fly to score Lennon.

The Knights scored again in the sixth when Britt laced a single, stole second and came around to score on Jeremy Hunt’s RBI single, cutting the deficit to 6-2.

But West Bladen had no magic for the seventh.

Hunt led the Knights at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and RBI. Britt was 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, and Lennon was 2-for-4.

Hunt took the loss on the hill for West Bladen, pitching a complete game and giving up nine hits, one walk and striking out eight.

— In Dublin on Tuesday, the Lady Knights were whitewashed by Four County Conference power Heidi Trask in six innings, 10-0.

The Lady Titans scored six runs in the first inning, then added a run in the third and finished off the win with three runs in the sixth.

West Bladen got six hits in the game, with Jenna Dove going 2-for-2 and Carley Dawson going 2-for-3 with a double.

The Lady Knights fall to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
