West players named to all-tourney teams

LUMBERTON — West Bladen’s baseball and softball teams each had a player tabbed for the Robeson County Slugfest all-tournament team.

The Knights, who went 0-2 in the tournament, saw Chandler Lennon named to the baseball tourney team.

The Lady Knights, who also went 0-2 in the annual spring break tournament, had Kassidy Anderson named to the team.

Bladenboro Rotary golf tourney set

BLADENBORO — The 18th annual Bladenboro Rotary Club Golf Tournament will tee off on Friday, May 13, at Land O Lakes Golf Course in Whiteville with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the J.W. and Martha Black Scholarship Awards, which are presented each year to deserving West Bladen High School seniors.

Cost to participate will be $60 per player or $240 per team and includes the 18-hole tournament, lunch, cart and dinner. The field is limited to the first 24 teams to register.

Lady Knights to host volleyball camp

DUBLIN — The Lady Knights of West Bladen will hold their third annual mini-volleyball camp for girls ages 9 to 13 years old on June 15-16 from 9 a.m. until noon each day in the West Bladen High School gym.

Cost for the camp is $40 per student and will include a T-shirt. Registration will be held Tuesday, June 15, at 8:30 a.m.

Registration forms may be obtained from your child’s school or from West Bladen High School. Completed forms and fees must be returned to West Bladen High School by May 31.

Rotary Club’s USO benefit schdeuled

ELIZABETHTOWN — The annual Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s 8K Trail Run and Walk to benefit the USO of North Carolina will be held Saturday, April 16, at the Brown’s Creek Nature Trail and Bike Park at 8:30 a.m.

Participants can register for the event by going to www.elizabethtownrotary8k.org.

The cost to register of the event is $25. Race packets may be picked up at the Cape Fear Farmer’s Market on Friday, April 15, or on Saturday, April 16, at 7:30 a.m. at the park.
