ELIZABETHTOWN —Lacey Suggs recorded her second straight hat trick of the week with three goals for the Lady Eagles on Thursday in a 4-0 Four County Conference win over Wallace-Rose Hill.

The win improves East Bladen to 12-1 overall and 5-1 in the conference.

Neither team could get on the board through the first two-thirds of the first half. But with about 10 minutes to go, Suggs too a pass from Maddie West and booted home a goal. Just moments later, Suggs found the back of the Lady Bulldogs’ net again to give East Bladen a 2-0 halftime advantage.

Suggs completed her hat trick just moments into the second half and, at the other end of the half, Claire Campbell scored a goal to seal the Lady Eagles’ win.

Coates improved his record to 5-1 with the win.

East Bladen will host conference foe Midway at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

— Alex Coates fired a complete-game, four hitter Thursday as East Bladen knocked off visiting Wallace-Rose Hill 9-1 in a Four County Conference tilt.

The Eagles improved to 9-3 overall and 5-0 in the conference.

The Bulldogs nicked Coates for a run in the top of the first, but East Bladen answered with a pair of runs in the home half for a 2-1 edge.

The Eagles tacked on a run in the third before erupting for three runs in the fourth frame, two more in the fifth and another in the sixth to seal the win.

East Bladen rapped out 12 hits, led by Sincere Smith’s 4-for-4 night with a double. Smith has hit safely in eight straight at-bats. Kyle Tatum was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Ty Watkins was 2-for-3.

The Eagles will play host to Midway on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a conference matchup.

— A rally by East Bladen on Thursday was turned back by visiting Wallace-Rose Hill, and the Lady Bulldogs took an 8-3 Four County Conference win.

The loss drops the Lady Eagles to 3-5 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

Wallace-Rose Hill got on the board with a run in the top of the first, and East Bladen answered with a run in the home half when Kaley Smith walked, Anna Kate White walked and Miller Heustess slapped an RBI single.

After a scoreless second, the Lady Bulldogs scored twice with the help of two East Bladen errors for a 3-1 edge. The visitors added a run in the top of the fourth to take a 4-1 advantage.

After a scoreless fifth frame, the Lady Eagles began a comeback bid in the sixth. Heustess and Emily Scott led off with singles and a passed ball brought Heustess home. Shardajah Brown brought Scott home with an RBI single that wilted the deficit to 4-3 before the rally fizzled.

Wallace-Rose Hill, however, put four runs on the board in the seventh to seal the win.

Heustess and Brown each finished 2-for-3 at the plate for East Bladen with an RBI.

The Lady Eagles will host Midway on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in a conference game.

— In Dublin on Wednesday, the visiting Dark Horses of Clinton defeated West Bladen 8-1 in the Four County Conference opener for both teams.

The loss drops the Knights to 7-4 overall and 0-1 in conference, while Clinton remains spotless at 8-0, 1-0.

In singles action, West Bladen’s Victor Jacome was handed his first loss of the season in a tough match at No. 1. Jacome fell by a 1-6, 6-4 and 10-7 verdict as Clinton swept all six singles matches.

But Jacome got some measure of revenge, teaming with Matthew Bobby to win the No. 1 doubles match, 8-4, for the Knights lone point of the day.
