CLINTON — West Bladen invaded the Lady Dark Horses’ tennis courts Tuesday for a Four County Conference match and handed the home team a 6-3 loss.

The Lady Knights improved to 13-0 overall and 5-0 in the conference.

In singles action, Alanna Ludlum remained undefeated with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1; Conner Brisson took a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4; Savannah Lee earned a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5; and Alyssa Bell got a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 6.

In doubles, Ludlum and Amber Long teamed for an 8-4 win at No. 1; and the duo of Brisson and Lee took an 8-1 win at No. 3.

” I was pleased with the way the girls played …” said West Bladen coach Jeff Atkinson. “They played very well .. despite all of the recent rain and bad weather that has hindered our practice time and postpone a few of our matches in the past few weeks.”

East aces Pender County

In Elizabethtown on Tuesday, the Lady Eagles earned a 9-0 whitewashing of Pender County on Senior Day.

The Four County Conference win improved East Bladen to 6-2 overall, 4-2 in the conference.

In singles, Justyna Gargala took an 8-2 win at No. 1; Cassie Hill got an 8-2 win at No. 2; Trinity Carroll earned an 8-2 win at No. 3; Maddie West battled for an 8-6 win at No. 4; Ting Lin got an 8-0 win at No. 5; and Bailee Davis earned an 8-1 win at No. 6.

In doubles, the team of Gargala and Hill fought for an 8-8 (7-2) win at No. 1; the duo of Carroll and West earned an 8-2 win at No. 2; and the team of Lin and Jayme LeeAnn Frady got an 8-0 win at No. 3.

Lady Knights get volleyball win

In Dublin on Tuesday, West Bladen swept visiting Heidi Trask by the scores of 25-17, 25-23 and 25-17.

The win improves the Lady Knights to 9-6 overall and 5-4 in the Four County Conference.

Morgan Schumacher led West Bladen with 10 kills and added two aces. Kathryn Schultz contributed nine kills, while Raegan Davis had six kills and seven service winners. Patience Parker had four kills, while Jenna Dove blasted home seven aces.

Lady Eagles get swept

In Elizabethtown on Tuesday, visiting Pender County swept East Bladen in a Four County Conference match by the scores of 25-13, 25-17 and 25-14.

Anna Grace Long led the Lady Eagles with 15 service winners and two aces; Lexie Mendell had five blocks and three kills; Shardajah Brown recorded 11 service points with two aces; and Ashley Hardin had two blocks.
