ROSE HILL –The Eagles broke open a tight match Monday with three second-half goals and captured a 4-1 road win over Union.

East Bladen improves to 10-5-1 overall and 6-4 in the Four County Conference.

The Eagles got on the board early when Greyson Heustess gathered in a corner kick by Grey Cabellero and sent a pass to Brooks McGill, who did the rest with a shot to the back of the net from in close for a 1-0 edge.

The Spartans responded 20 minutes later with a goal that knotted things up at 1-1, and that’s the way the half ended.

Early in the second half, McGill notched his second goal of the match to put the Eagles up 2-1 and, just a few moments later, Huestess sent a pass to Cabellero, who fired a shot into the Union net for a 3-1 lead. Before the Spartans could take a breath, East Bladen attacked again, this time Caleb Hatchell won a tie-up and booted a pass to Heustess, who rocketed a shot into the net for the final goal of the match.

The Eagles will host West Bladen on Wednesday.
