FAYETTEVILLE — Sophomore Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson scored a career high 30 points on a big stage Wednesday, leading the Lady Eagles to a 49-30 non-conference win over Class 4-A Cape Fear.
The win improves East Bladen to 7-1 overall.
The Lady Eagles, behind five points from Moore-Peterson, raced out to a 9-3 lead after the first quarter. But Moore-Peterson went off in the second stanza, dropping in 14 points that included a three-pointer and three free throws, giving East Bladen a 29-11 advantage at halftime.
Moore-Peterson drained another three-pointer in the third quarter and dropped in six points as the Lady Eagles took the period 12-7 to build a 41-18 lead going into the final frame.
The Lady Colts fought back to win the fourth quarter, 12-8, but East Bladen easily sealed the win.
Moore-Peterson’s 30 points led all scorers, and Emily Scott contributed eight points with a basket in each quarter. Patience Ward pulled down 11 rebounds for the Lady Eagles, Shardajah Brown had seven rebounds and Scott had six.
East Bladen will host Clinton in a Four County Conference game on Friday at 6 p.m.
