ELIZABETHTOWN — The search for a permanent police chief in Elizabethtown is over, but the position won’t officially be filled until April 1, 2016.

Tony Parrish, a 25-year veteran of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, was chosen from among numerous applicants to serve as the town’s chief of police.

In April, Parrish will replace interim Police Chief Kip Hester, who has been serving in that position since Bobby Kinlaw’s retirement earlier this year.
