ELIZABETHTOWN — The Bladen Journal and Anna Grace Allen have teamed up on a month-long sock collection for the homeless and needy.
Allen, 14, the current Miss Bladenboro Outstanding Teen, will compete in the Miss North Carolina Outstanding Teen Pageant in June, and her platform is titled “Sock It to ‘Em,” which is centered around getting pairs of socks to area homeless shelters.
The public is being asked to donate new socks to the effort by bringing them to the Bladen Journal office in downtown Elizabethtown between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Bladen Journal is hoping to at least fill a recliner-sized box with the collected socks by the end of April.
