Elizabethtown Police arrested three people on drug and theft charges in two unrelated cases last week.
In the first case, Police Chief Bobby Kinlaw said officers arrested a Bladenboro man after stopping his vehicle on North Poplar Street around 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
Officers found 112 grams (four ounces) of marijuana and two shotguns in the arrest. The marijuana was valued at $400.
Kinlaw said Samuel M. McRoberts, 23, of 138 Abe Branch Rd., Bladenboro, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana and manufacture of marijuana for sale and delivery. He was placed in the Bladen County Jail under $2,000 bond.
In an unrelated case, officers were called to the Wal-Mart on Broad Street Friday afternoon after a woman allegedly shoplifted several items.
Kinlaw said officers detained Tara Ann Jones in the parking lot after reportedly discovering a number of small items in her purse, along with a small quantity of marijuana. The items matched merchandise reported stolen from the store a few minutes before.
Police discovered other items in her vehicle which were allegedly taken from the store as well, Kinlaw said. A marijuana pipe was also found in the car.
Among the items officers recovered were women's underwear, pajamas, potting soil and shoes, all allegedly taken from the Wal-Mart.
Jones was charged with larceny, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer. She was placed in the Bladen County Jail under a $900 secured bond.
Kinlaw said officers found more pot on Jones' person after she was taken to the jail.
A passenger in the vehicle, Cannady Gene Smith, was also charged with possession of marijuana. He was placed in the Bladen County Jail under a $400 bond.
A five-year-old child in the vehicle was turned over to the child's grandparents, Kinlaw said.
