The History Department of Bladen Community College announces "Spain in the Spring"-a 10-day trip during Spring the Spring 2003 break. This group tour, along with in-class time, is required in the Humanities 120 course, Cultural Studies.

The "no-hassles" tour is arranged by Trafalgar Tours, a tour company for adults, and the tour includes visits to Madrid, Seville, Cordoba, Granada, Gilbraltar, and the Costa del Sol.

The cost of $1,575 includes air fare round-trip from Raleigh, motor coach transportation in Europe; all accommodations-two to a room, each room with a private bath in first-class hotels; admission to scheduled events; all breakfasts; two (three-course) dinners; a European tour director; in-country guides for city tours; local travel consultant; tips; and pre-trip materials and information.

The world cultures class meets three hours, one time each month, August through February. It introduces the distinctive features of particular cultures as seen in art, history, music, and literature.

Study-tour participants are provided background information, guidance, and support for the trip; however, the general public may take the course for special studies credit. The course is available in on-line format for those outside the area.

The first class meeting is scheduled for Saturday, August 24, from 9:30 a.m. until 12 noon, in Room 111 of the Parker Building on the BCC Main Campus.
