Elwell Ferry and the boat landing at the ferry will be closed from Monday through Wednesday next week, October 28 - 30, according to Department of Transportation District Engineer Drew Cox.
The closure will be to accommodate a military exercise that will be undertaken in the area. Military Police will have the area cordoned off during the exercise.
The ferry, which has connected the Kelly and Carver's Creek communities for more than a century, was completely overhauled last year.
The historic ferry is one of only three such river ferries remaining in the state and has often been the subject of stories and a favorite of amateur and professional photographers over the years.
