A Garland man reported missing Sunday was found drowned Monday afternoon.

The body of Edwin Lopez, 22, was found by White Lake-Bladen County Water Rescue divers in a pond north of Garland. Lopez's family had found his hat floating near the site Sunday, according to Chief Deputy John Conerly of the Sampson County Sheriff's Department.

Dale Brennan of the WL-BC dive team said two cadaver dogs directed the divers to the spot where Lopez was found.

Volunteers, lawmen, and rescue workers from five counties were involved in the search.
