Leon Shaw and Eric Lewis smashed doubles to spark a two-run fifth inning that carried Tar Heel to a 3-2 Bladen Six Middle School victory at Bladenboro Thursday.
Shaw's one-out shot to left-centerfield started the winning rally.
One-out later, Taylor Shirley punched a single to right. Lewis' blast to right-centerfield plated Shirley for a 3-1 Tar Heel lead.
The Bulldogs tried to rally but left two runners on base in the fifth and the bases loaded in the sixth.
James Davis walked to start the Bladenboro seventh and raced home when Jon Sweeney slapped a two-out single to leftfield.
However Panther centerfielder Blake Bailey hauled in Jonathan Benson's drive to centerfield to end the game.
Lewis walked, stole second and darted home when Bailey dropped a single inside the leftfield foul line for a 1-0 Tar Heel first inning lead.
Davis walked, swiped second and eventually scored on C. J. Hyatt's infield out to tie the game at 1-1 in the third.
Winning pitcher Garrett Brisson allowed only one run on two hits and three walks, while striking out seven in four innings of work.
Lewis gave up a run on four hits and two walks in three innings of relief.
Benson hurled six and a third innings for the Bulldogs, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks, while striking out thirteen.
Blake Yandle recorded the final two outs in relief of Benson, striking out one.
Lewis with a double and a run-batted-in, and Shaw with a double paced the Tar Heel attack.
Bailey cracked a RBI single, and Garrett Brisson, Steven Wood and Taylor Shirley added a single each for the Panthers.
Benson batted 2-for-4 to lead the Bladenboro hitters. Sweeney belted a RBI single, and Blake Sykes, Davis and Timothy Benton collected the other Bulldog hits.
