DANIEL WEBSTER HODGES SR.

DALTON, Ga. - Daniel Webster Hodges Sr., 83, a former resident of Bladen County and of Stone Mountain, Ga., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, at his residence.

He was born October 12, 1919, in Bulloch County, Georgia, and was predeceased by his parents, Oliver and Cassie Hodges; and by a son, Daniel W. Hodges Jr.

He grew up in the Nevils community near Statesboro. He was a Veteran and served in the U. S. Navy aboard the USS William W. Seaton during WWII as a Seaman 1st Class. He retired from Ashland Oil Company in 1984 as a superintendent and was previously employed by WL Cobb Construction Co. for 22 years.

Mr. Hodges was a member of Pine Lake Baptist Church in Pine Lake, Georgia. He loved the woods of North Carolina and was a member of the Triad Sportsman Club in Lagoon, N. C.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Cozy Marshall Hodges; his daughters, Kay Davis of Rock Hill, S. C., and Nancy Sarkowski (Michael) of Dalton, Ga.; a sister, Opal Bagwell of Savannah, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Maggie Hodges Barnes of Savannah, Ga.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 13, a 2 p. m. in the Marshall Family Cemetery in Lagoon with the Rev. Beverly Kinlaw officiating.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 12, at Kinlaw Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m.
